Adding comments to your website’s content is now that easy: install the extension, and there you go. No more template alterations, no separate module or plugin installation. It’s all in one package now.
Joomla Comment by Compojoom delivers one of the most advanced commenting system for joomla, enabling your users and visitors to exchange useful comments and to improve your relevancy in the SEO world with User generated Content.
Upon installation Joomla Comment installs his needed plugins and enables them in order to add the HTML code at the end of your articles. Also a nice “Write comment” followed by the current comment count appears on the front-page and joomla blog displays.
Why using expensive Blog extensions in order to get your blog into place when you can use the Joomla core article management augmented by a nice (and free) extension that enables you to have the full wordpress experience, but having the Joomla universe right before you.
Comment management is made easy. You have a full list of comments that you can filter by a keyword or by the extension (com_content is default – Joomla content extension)

You have quick actions like delete, approve or edit, and list auctions to enable/ disable/ delete bulk comments.
Since you can enable Comment approval, there is a slim chance for spam posts to get through. Of course do not forget to enable the Captcha for public commenting, unless you want to get spambots fill your comment list with crap.
Running the extension for several months I did got a lot of spam, but at a much, much smaller rate then I get in other commenting systems. Maybe due to a better programming from the start (ako comment lacked a lot of anti spam in the beginning) spammers were discouraged to focus on this particular solution.
I also find the plugin system (god how I wished for something like this some years ago when using ako comments). I managed to add some nifty plugins to my custom extensions and this way improving the overall user friendliness of my sites.

Now regarding the settings – there are a lot!
Language and Charest options that allows you to use a particular language to the commenting system, include and exclude sections, categories, or specific content item in order to have for instance no comments on content like “terms and conditions” or “about us”.
Mail notifications prove to be very useful. You can quick decide if the comment is worth your time to log in, and reducing your work overhead. If you feel your users are no spammers, you can enable auto publishing.
Nested comments seems to be a beloved feature of this extension, I personally do not care much for this feature, since comments on my sites are pretty linear and not really an active debate. But I can see the use there, so I mention it ;)
A very useful feature for webmasters proves to be the templating system. Although the system is rather complex, you get 9 different templates with the official release. This way you not only have a great variety to choose from, but also some inspiration sources and starting point for your custom templates
Joomla Comment has a very powerful import functionality – allowing you to import from other standard commenting extensions or from a sql table of your choice. This way you can discard old “Ako Comment”-like extensions that have no support anymore and upgrade to the new and very lively “Joomla Comment” from Daniel Dimitrov.
